      Season 1 – Hitmen

      2020 Comedy Crime List
76% 21 Reviews Tomatometer 89% Fewer than 50 Ratings Audience Score Best friends and misfits Fran and Jamie are making their way in the world with only each other to rely on; they also just happen to kill people for a living. Fran and Jamie are not your typical assassins for hire, having accidentally stumbled into a career in contract killing. Their terrifying boss, Mr. K, makes it clear that their lives are at stake if they mess up their assignments. Through frivolous bickering and inane antics, the hapless duo tries to carry out their latest hits without being derailed by their own incompetence. As the pair is thrown into a series of bizarre misadventures, the body count mounts (along with the mishaps). While affable goofball Jamie seems content to spend her days hanging out in a van with her best friend, the neurotic Fran starts to question whether this is really the life she wants, putting their friendship to the test. What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins's comedic skills remain sharp, but with uneven sketches and underwritten characters, Hitmen can't quite hit its mark.

Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald It's the unfakeable comedic understanding between Perkins and Giedroyc that really makes it work - they fit each other like old comedy shoes, and the one shoe instinctively knows what the other is doing. Rated: 4/5 Oct 13, 2021 Full Review Allison Keene Paste Magazine The series isn't great, but it's just fine. It coasts entirely on the charm of these two, and whether or not you are watching specifically for them. Rated: 6.8/10 Aug 7, 2020 Full Review Melanie McFarland Salon.com They may play killers, but the kind who keep the actors well within the brand they've built over their 32-year friendship and professional partnership. Plus the humor is, well, adorable. Aug 6, 2020 Full Review Matt Cabral Common Sense Media Average dark comedy is elevated by Brit stars' chemistry. Rated: 3/5 Oct 12, 2020 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba The chemistry between Mel and Sue is well established, and while Hitmen is an easy way to enjoyably pass the time, there's not much more to it than that. For a show about paid killer, it is incredibly light. Aug 12, 2020 Full Review Megan Sunday The Spool [It's an] an inoffensive and frothy series that never quite manages to be more than the sum of its parts. Aug 10, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
