Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald The characters and production design are terrific, and the feverishly imagined monsters are capable of delivering real chills and Evil Dead-style goofiness. Feb 10, 2021 Full Review Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting The convoluted narrative structure changes what little rules it establishes for contrived storytelling's sake. The cheap VFX can be off-putting, but the series does go heavy on the bloodshed. Rated: 2/5 Jan 6, 2021 Full Review Melissa Camacho Common Sense Media There are moments that feel a little slow and distorted, Sweet Home has some interesting characters and enough scary moments to keep you captivated. Feb 2, 2024 Full Review Pierce Conran South China Morning Post Despite a breathless opening episode and some grisly fun throughout, Sweet Home does not provide much of a story for viewers to get hooked on Rated: 3/5 Jan 6, 2021 Full Review James Perkins Starburst Sweet Home is a highly enjoyable, extremely gory and bat-shit insane take on the monster/apocalypse horror genre that has plenty of twists and turns and has a much bigger story to tell. Rated: 4/5 Jan 6, 2021 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Despite its flaws and a premise we've seen before, Sweet Home distinguishes itself by its setting and its monsters. Some Guy F It's off-putting which is good for horror, but then the effects are so bad and the monsters are so unrealistic and goofy that it ruins all the tension that it builds. It regularly feels like there's missing scenes, in Season 2 it feels like there's entire episodes missing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review audrey r The show was off to a strong start in the beginning. Each character was unique, and the plot seemed to be flowing well for a bit. The way the people get infected felt creative but not explained enough. Who put the curse on the earth? How? Why now? By the end of the show I was very disappointed. In season 2, almost none of the characters from the first season survived. They killed off some of the best characters and also seem to have an obsession with killing children and parents and use that dynamic a LOT. I feel like the plot got lost the last few episodes of the first season when they just killed off half the cast. I think this show is overrated, half the time I was so confused where the storyline was headed and was very disappointed by the end of it. Shows like All of Us are Dead was great, because the story and plot was very clear, and while they killed a lot of the cast they still managed to make it great and left me feeling satisfied. That's how I know shows like these are good. Unfortunately, this show was unable to pull it off. I have a hard time with explaining how I feel with descriptive words so I can't find the right description on how I feel about this show. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/14/24 Full Review Luna T Interesting story. Each character has their own unique characteristics. Actors were all excellent, but the story was very slow and took awhile to develope, it also had alot of flawed moments that don't make any sense at all. Some episodes were more entertaining then others that's why I gaved it a 3* overall it helped passed the time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/24 Full Review Ailidh D This show was confusing. We didn't understand half of the beginning episodes then it changed to a new group of people. At that point nothing made any sense. How much time passed? Why do we care about these people in the bunker? Why is everyone a rotten, evil, pathetic soul? The characters were unlikable at best (then those characters died) and you're left with the most poorly written/ acted ones. The rules and world building shift or fall apart from one episode to another. I honestly can't fathom all the positive reviews. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review Michael M Started off slow, and I wasn't sure that I'd get into it. Got better as it moved along and by the end I was hooked, and looking forward to season 2. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review Finn M Very entertaining and gripping show, some of the cgi wasn't the best but overall the monsters were terrifying and well designed. My biggest issue was the soundtrack and the fact that Warriors by Imagine Dragons would play almost every time a character would have a badass scene. It stripped the scenes completely of any tension or emotion and honestly just made me laugh at the ridiculousness of it. These could have been some of the best and most memorable moments in the show if not for the poor soundtrack choices. But an enjoyable experience overall.
